An education in empathy.
Led by Dr. Leticia Villarreal Sosa of The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley, CIRGL equips school professionals to support grieving students through a culturally responsive lens. My role was to design a visual identity that reflected the heart of the program — thoughtful, inclusive, and grounded in care.
I developed a brand identity that communicates compassion without feeling clinical — one that centers the lived experiences of students and the professionals who support them. The design needed to convey trust, warmth, and clarity. Through a careful balance of color, and layout, I built a system that reflects the heart of the CIRGL curriculum: grief comes in many forms.
This wasn’t just about making the program visually appealing — it was about building credibility and connection at first glance.
Because the program is delivered fully online and asynchronously, it was critical that the brochure and digital materials were not only well-designed but also functional and easy to navigate. The layout clearly outlined course modules, elective options, and program goals, while the design remained rooted in empathy and clarity.
The final product is a visual identity that feels thoughtful, professional, and grounded in the belief that culturally informed support is not just helpful — it’s essential.
